HALFBACK 1966-68
The last time the Frogs defeated Texas in Austin, Lyndon Johnson was president and the starting halfback was Montgomery. After TCU rallied for 18 points in the fourth quarter to pull off a 24-17 upset, the confident Montgomery replied, “I wasn’t surprised the way we rallied. That was Texas we were playing.” Montgomery, tied for third all time in touchdowns in a game (4), earned All-SWC honors in 1967 and led the team in rushing three straight seasons.
