ROYCE HUFFMAN THIRD BASEMAN/PUNTER 1996-99 A classic two-sport star in the modern era. He excelled at the hot corner on the diamond as an All-American in 1999 (not to mention as a Freshman All-American in 1996), but he also showed greatness as a punter and kick returner for the football team, especially in 1997 when he was All-WAC at both positions. Among his other accolades: Three-time all-conference in baseball and second-team All-America in 1998. He’s the Frogs' career leader in hits (317), RBI (225), doubles (59), home runs (44), total bases (528) and walks (158), not to mention second in career batting average (.400). On the gridiron, he led TCU in punting four seasons (1996-99) and ranks third in career punting average (41.4). HONORABLE MENTION: Stanley Washington, wide receiver 1979-82; Brandon Hassell, quarterback 2001-04; Gene Burton, outfielder/designated hitter 1973-76; Chris Becker, punter 1985-88; Mason Mayne, guard 1935-37 |
