Four! Weeks in the top spot, that is

The top place in the Golfweek/Sagarin performance ratings sat squarely on the men's golf teams tee for nearly four weeks this fall following a win at the Ridges Intercollegiate in September. It was a strong start that helped earn the team the seventh spot in the nation at press time, according to the Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfworld coaches' polls. Winning two events during the 2001 fall season also contributed to a stellar fall. It was the first time since the fall of 1997 that the squad won two tourneys in the same semester.

While the team has made a good showing across the board, one standout is junior Adam Rubinson, left, who placed in the top 20 in four of the first five tournaments of the year. He was in the top 10 in the opening three events, finishing second at The Ridges, third at the Gary Koch and tied for 10th at Red River. At press time, he was ranked sixth individually, according to Golfweek. Rubinson is the son of TCU head soccer coach and former Frog soccer player Dave Rubinson.

In other golf news, former TCU star J.J. Henry is having a strong season on the pro tour. The three-time All-American (1996, '97, '98) finished among the top 60 on the PGA Tour money list and made more than $1 million during the year.
