Record-breaking boot scoot

When organizers of TCU's Western Heritage Day discovered that Hong Kong held the Guiness World Record for the largest line dance (just over 12,000), they decided such a feat belonged in Texas.

So during the Nov. 20 game against Southern Miss (42-17 -- Go Frogs!), more than 14,000 Horned Frog fans registered to set the record. At halftime, national recording artist Deryl Dodd serenaded the crowd as it one-two’ed its way toward a new line dance standard.

At press time, the Guiness people were still reviewing the tape and verifying names before conceding that the record does indeed belong to Texas.

Phillip Kiesner, above, and his roping and performing family were among the many entertainers who joined the festivities. Western Heritage Day also featured live cutting horse demonstrations, four stages with live music and more than 40 interactive booths displaying the uniqueness of Western culture and Fort Worth.
