Pure Purple. Lots of Horned Frogs admit to bleeding purple, but then there are Frogs like R.E. ’61 and Sylvia Faublon Dodson ’61. The couple has always collected horned frog memorabilia. When they moved back to Fort Worth in 1991, the collection exploded, bits of purple landing everywhere — inside and outside — of the house. Glassware, pottery, birdfeeders, blankets, rugs, mugs, windsocks and even Waterford crystal purple vases. Even their cars have white racing stripes with tiny HF’s inscribed inside, topped off with license plate frames.“And just wait until Christmas time!” Sylvia teased. Above, R.E. rests easy knowing he’s surrounded by horned frog love. Below, Sylvia shows off her TCU-etched drinking glasses, along with a small fraction of their sports memorabilia. Next, Sylvia purchased every tablecloth from the bookstore one day, had it padded and mounted on a bathroom wall. Voila! TCU wallpaper. Next, yes, even the pool table is purple. And, lastly, Sylvia’s dinnerware collection. She says she’s always looking for something purple. “I’m even thinking about redoing my bedroom purple, but I haven’t told my husband yet!”
