were listening to and you responded loud and clear.
40s
"And the Angels Sing,"
Bennie Goodman; "Moonlight Sonata," Glenn Miller, "Begin

Great singers: Sinatra, Crosby, Como, Eberle, Tilton, Lena
Horne, Nat King Cole. You could understand the words! Song
writers: Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael, Rogers &
Hammerstein. As a WWII naval officer on destroyer in
Atlantic 8 months, on destroyer in Pacific 20 months, we
played these songs until the records wore out. A great time
to have lived through! Dick Truitt '43
My radio in Room 319
Jarvis was the only one in my group of friends: Tance Neal
Patton, Isabel Hill Haring, Eliz Story Cummings, my roommate
Florrie Buckingham Sparks and me. Four-year favorite Florrie
Buckingham choosing the song at the presentation was a big
deal. "Stardust" was the favorite of everyone. Also "Deep
Purple," "Moon Glow," "Don’t Be That Way." Eleanor
Jennings Eilenberger '41

"That Lucky Old Sun,"

I was exposed to Rhythm
and Blues as Freshman in Waits Hall and being from Indiana,
had not been privileged to hear that music until I heard "Lawdy,
Lawdy, Lawdy, Miss Claudy." (This was long before boom
boxes and eight track tapes!) Other favorites were "Mint
Julep", "Night Train" and "Because of You" by a Tony
Bennett. We danced the "Poly Drag" at a nightspot called
"Jack's." Wonderful memories! Ann Swearingen

Three Dog Night played
the homecoming weekend concert in the Fall of 1971 held at
the convention center. Glenn Gillaspy '75
"Benny & the Jets!"
1973 — Colby Hall 2nd floor. I listened to this song while
panty raids were in full force, as was streaking (we made
national news). Those were the good ole days! The song
represented adventure & bliss! Ann Cain '77
I loved John Denver
back then. And I have a picture with four of my TCU friends
– Camille Cofer, Judy Shaver, Diana Ivy and Anita DeChellis
– all with our arms around each others’ shoulders as we set
out for a John Denver concert in downtown Fort Worth circa
1974. What a great memory that is! Anne Rodgers ’75
"Isn’t She Lovely" by
Stevie Wonder. This was played a lot and now, whenever I
hear it, I think of TCU, Waits Hall and my roommate, Meff
Brennan. Karen Turley Parker ’80
Any time I hear Rod
Stewart’s "Maggie Mae" I think of TCU and the basement snack
bar, because it seemed that every time I hit those stairs it
was on the juke box down there. Also "Witchy Woman" by The
