Terrific Terry

Junior right fielder Terry Trofholz, above, became the first Horned Frog baseball player since 1999 to earn All-American honors when he was named to Baseball Weekly's second team in June.

Trofholz enjoyed one of the most prolific seasons in TCU and Conference USA history, compiling an astounding .441 batting average, eighth best nationally. The mark shattered a conference record. Besides leading the team in batting average, Trofholz was tops on the squad in hits (94), runs (51), total bases (121), on-base percentage (.481), stolen bases (12) and triples (4). He's not too shabby in the field, either, sporting a .992 fielding percentage.

TCU also saw two of its players taken in the major league draft. Junior first baseman Walter Olmstead was selected in the sixth round by the Cincinnati Reds, while senior shortstop Levi Robinson was taken in the 34th round by the Baltimore Orioles.

As a team, the Frogs (30-29, 19-11) rallied to finish third in C-USA before being eliminated in the conference tournament.
